UPDATE: A Microsoft spokesperson has issued a no-comment flavored comment to us, read it below.
"Xbox 360 has found new ways to extend its lifecycle like introducing the world to controller-free experiences with Kinect and re-inventing the console with a new dashboard and new entertainment content partnerships. We are always thinking about what is next for our platform and how to continue to defy the lifecycle convention. Beyond that we do not comment on rumors or speculation."

Along with the torrent of regular rumors surrounding Microsoft and their efforts on upcoming systems, a new one started doing the rounds this week. Originally reported by reddit user
MSNerd, an "Xbox Lite" is in the works for a late 2013 release, utilizing the processing power of the Xbox 360 in a stripped-down form.
How stripped down? Well, it appears that the system might not even have a disc drive, and will instead be an ARM-based platform comparable in price with Apple TV (around $100), and have the ability play downloaded Arcade games as well as media apps like Netflix and HBO Go, and will interface with Kinect.

MSNerd also states that the system will be separate from the publisher's next-generation system, which is set to release at some point after the "lite" Xbox's 2013 launch.
