The awards tab at the top of the side will bring u up the award list.scroll to the one which ur applying for and on the right side it will give the option to request or recommend.chose which ever applies.
On another note I'm not to sure what way u guys work things with awards on the cod side but I know with out battlefield company officers must recommend certain awards to clarify that the essential criteria has been met.
