I recommend Fruity Loops...very good program. I started making music with Dance eJay...simple drag and drop. Gives a good flavour of music composing.

I have an awful lot of vinyl too from when I used to spin the wheels of steel. A serato unit let me transfer my favourite vinyl tracks to digital audio...and I may have cut some bits for my own personal use
