i wanted to get a 55 or 60" in the black friday sales for my front room (gaming) but alas, things have cropped up and meant my money was spent elsewhere....

if im lucky i may find a decent one within my price range now but i doubt it

Wait until they clearance this year's models right before the new models hit the store front. Here in the US that is around February. I got my 55" for about 65% less than regular price
